Trump asserts he deserves the 'Nobel Peace Prize' and doubts his chances of winning - Sarmad

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he deserves to win the Nobel Peace Prize, but he acknowledged there are doubts about his chances of receiving it.
Regarding the 2026 award, which will be announced by the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Friday, Trump said, “I don’t know what their decision will be. They have a reputation for possibly not awarding it to people like me.”
Since returning to the White House last year, Trump has repeatedly asserted that he deserves what can be described as the world’s highest honor.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said, “It’s time… but I was very honored to receive it indirectly last time from the winner, who said that no one in history deserves it more than President Trump.”
In January, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado presented Trump with a Nobel Peace Prize medal for 2025, as part of her efforts to secure US support for her initiatives in Venezuela.
Trump believes he deserves the prize following his involvement in resolving eight conflicts since taking office.
Leaders from Cambodia, Israel, and Pakistan said they had nominated Trump, although there is no way to verify these claims.
Some parties have questioned the extent of Trump’s diplomatic role in resolving certain conflicts, with clashes breaking out again in some of those areas, including the Democratic Republic of Congo and along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
Trump has failed to reach a resolution to the Russian war in Ukraine, despite promising to end it on the first day of his second term in the White House.
US-Israeli strikes on Iran ignited a conflict that has been ongoing for seven months, disrupting global energy supplies and driving up gas prices ahead of the midterm elections in November.
Notably, Pope Leo, the International Criminal Court, and the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories are among the frontrunners to win the prize this year.
