Congress Report: US Air Losses Amount to Billions of Dollars in Iran War - Sarmad

A recent update from the Congressional Research Service reported that at least 81 American aircraft, helicopters, and drones were lost or damaged during military operations against Iran.
The Congressional Budget Office estimated the cost of replacing lost or damaged equipment at between $1.9 billion and $3.3 billion, depending on options outlined by the U.S. Department of Defense.
The latest estimate places the total cost of U.S. military operations against Iran at approximately $43.6 billion as of September 3, 2026, according to data provided by the Department of Defense to congressional oversight committees. This figure includes $11.2 billion in operational expenses and $32.4 billion for the replacement of ammunition, aircraft, and damaged equipment.
Previous estimates had placed the cost of operations at around $33.4 billion as of June 29 and approximately $38 billion as of August 1, with variations in the figures depending on the accounting date and included costs.
