Chinese Woman Gives Birth at Age 60 - Sarmad

The South China Morning Post reported that a 60-year-old Chinese woman named Zhang gave birth to a daughter two years after the birth of her son.

According to the newspaper, Zhang’s daughter was born via cesarean section on September 17. The woman said, “I am very happy! I have a son and a daughter, and my life is full of contentment.”

Zhang delivered her second child at the age of 58. According to the midwife, pregnancy at this age is rare in China. It remains unclear whether Zhang underwent assisted reproductive technology.

Zhang admitted that she decided to have another child at this advanced age following the death of her first child in 2022. Despite her husband’s concerns, she was confident in her ability to take on the responsibility. She said she carried out her household chores normally during both pregnancies.

The 60-year-old mother believes she will live a long life thanks to her genetics.

She said, “My mother is now 94 years old and enjoys good eyesight and hearing. She can even climb stairs on her own. I believe I am just as healthy as she is.”
