Israeli Broadcasting Authority: Druze of As-Suwayda Commemorate October 7 - Sarmad

The Israeli public broadcaster reported that dozens of Syrian Druze held a march in the streets of Suwayda on Wednesday to commemorate the October 7 attacks and express solidarity with their victims.
According to the broadcaster, participants carried images of Sheikh Mukhtar Tarif, the spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, alongside Israeli flags and Druze community flags.
The broadcaster noted that the car leading the procession bore yellow Israeli license plates.
Local Syrian media reported that dozens of people participated in a march through the streets of Suwayda, which ended with a gathering in Al-Karama Square in the city center.
They also carried banners with slogans such as “We will not forget, we will not forgive” and “The massacres have multiplied, but the perpetrator is one.”
Al-Samoud Battalion, the group that organized the march, stated that the demonstration was an expression of rejection of extremism and massacres against civilians. Meanwhile, Syrian statements, including those from within Suwayda Governorate, condemned the event, emphasizing that it represented only the participants and did not reflect the general stance of the governorate’s residents or the broader Druze community.
