(KUNA) – Kuwait’s Ambassador to Algeria, Nawaf Boushibeh, held talks today, Tuesday, with Algerian Finance Minister Mohamed Lamine L’Bou to explore ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the economic and trade sectors, contributing to the development of shared relations.

The Kuwaiti Embassy in Algeria said in a statement that the Algerian Finance Minister received the Kuwaiti ambassador, accompanied by several senior ministry officials and Counselor at the Embassy, Khaled Al-Zeer. The statement noted that both sides praised the deep, distinguished historical ties linking the two brotherly countries.

The statement added that the discussions addressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination within the framework of the Joint Financial Committee, aiming to achieve a qualitative leap in bilateral relations, alongside examining efforts by Air Algérie to launch a direct flight route between the two countries, thereby boosting trade and tourism cooperation.

For his part, Ambassador Boushibeh told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that both countries are moving toward the future with greater resolve and sincere will to advance and enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields, in line with the aspirations of the political leadership in both nations.

The Kuwaiti ambassador also held talks with the President of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chakib Koudri, during which both sides emphasized the possibility of establishing a joint action plan to push trade and economic relations toward broader horizons.

Both sides agreed to organize a meeting involving relevant authorities in the two countries via video conferencing technology to introduce investment opportunities, discuss potential cooperation and partnership, exchange commercial information, and open channels for data sharing on available opportunities, thereby helping to remove obstacles to imports and exports.

At the conclusion of the talks, both sides affirmed, according to the statement, their commitment to further discussing the proposal to establish a joint business council as part of efforts to develop economic and trade cooperation between the State of Kuwait and Algeria.
