For the first time since 1961, US President approves a 'firing squad' execution - Sarmad

U.S. President Donald Trump has approved the execution by firing squad of Nidal Hasan, a former military psychiatrist convicted of carrying out the 2009 Fort Hood base attack, in a move that could pave the way for the first execution of a military prisoner in the United States in more than six decades.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Barnell announced that the approval came at the recommendation of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. No date or location for the execution has been announced so far, according to ABC News.

Hasan was sentenced to death in 2013 after being convicted of killing 13 people and attempting to murder 32 others in the attack on the military base in Texas.
