Ministers of 'Development' and 'Communications' Announce National Digital Platform Project for Livestock Wealth - Sarmad

(KUNA) – State Minister for Development and Sustainability Dr. Reem Al-Faleh and State Minister for Communications and Information Technology and Acting Minister of Media and Culture Omar Al-Omar announced on Monday the National Digital Platform for Livestock, as part of the state’s efforts to develop the livestock sector and enhance digital transformation in sectors linked to food security.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Faleh said the project represents an important national step toward building an integrated digital system for managing livestock in the State of Kuwait, thereby strengthening food security, improving resource management efficiency, and consolidating principles of governance and sustainability.

She added that the platform aims to transition from fragmented procedures and data to a unified, reliable national digital database for livestock, contributing to the development of services provided to breeders, enhancing oversight, improving animal health, and strengthening the tracking system and food safety.

Al-Faleh clarified that the project is based on five main objectives: serving breeders, governing subsidies, enhancing livestock health, tracking and food safety, and supporting data-driven decision-making.

She emphasized that leveraging artificial intelligence and data analytics on the platform will enable a more accurate assessment of the livestock sector and its indicators, help improve the efficiency of directing subsidies to eligible recipients, strengthen oversight and protect public funds, and provide reliable data supporting national planning and policies related to food security.

Al-Faleh noted that “digital transformation is not an end in itself, but a tool to develop government work, enhance its efficiency, and promote transparency and governance,” adding that the platform’s success will be measured by the tangible improvements it delivers in serving breeders, providing more accurate data, enhancing oversight efficiency, and ensuring sustainable livestock management.

In this regard, Al-Faleh appreciated the cooperation and support provided by State Minister for Communications and Information Technology Omar Al-Omar and the Central Agency for Information Technology to the Public Authority for Agriculture and Fisheries Affairs in the digital transformation journey, affirming that this integration among government entities represents a model of institutional partnership in implementing national digital projects.

For his part, Al-Omar said in a similar statement to KUNA that the project aligns with the state’s direction toward digital transformation and the integration of government services. He confirmed that the Central Agency for Information Technology will deploy its technical expertise to support the implementation of the platform and its integration with relevant government entities in accordance with nationally approved information security standards.

Al-Omar added that the project represents a model of cooperation among government entities in leveraging modern technologies to develop services and enhance performance efficiency.

The announcement of the project comes within the context of Kuwait’s efforts to strengthen the food security system, consolidate sustainability and governance in the management of national resources, and harness digital transformation to develop vital sectors and improve the efficiency of government services.
