UK Accuses Iranians of Plotting Attack Against Jewish Community - Sarmad

Britain’s Counter-Terrorism Policing and the Crown Prosecution Service announced charges against two Iranian nationals suspected of plotting a terrorist attack against the Jewish community in Manchester.
Police and prosecutors stated that Rahman Salahi, 35, and Salam Ahmadian, 36, were charged with preparing for acts of terrorism or assisting another person to commit acts of terrorism, with the alleged offenses occurring no later than September 20, 2026.
BBC reported that the two men were arrested in the city’s North Quarter area while thousands of British Jews were attending services in synagogues. They are scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
Investigators from Counter-Terrorism Policing said there were allegations that the two men had been in contact with a third party outside the country, possibly located in Iran, regarding the plot.
Vicky Evans, the National Police Chiefs’ Council’s Senior Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, stated that “these charges and allegations are extremely serious.”
Last week, police announced the arrest of two men suspected of involvement in planning a terrorist attack, noting that they had thwarted a plot targeting the Jewish community in Manchester.
The charges against the Iranians coincide with comments by British Defence Secretary Wes Streeting, who said it was “likely that Iran was responsible for a failed attempt to target Fairford Air Base, which is used by the United States.” This followed police announcements on Thursday that they had arrested a dual British-Iranian national.
The 27-year-old man was arrested in London on suspicion of preparing for acts of terrorism, bringing the total number of people detained in connection with the incident to six, according to Bloomberg news agency.
The Iranian embassy in London denied any link between Tehran and the detainees, rejecting what it described as “baseless speculation attempting to implicate Iran in the case.”
