Trump reiterates pledge to give every American $5,000 if Republicans win - Sarmad

U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated on Saturday his pledge to issue a check for $5,000 to each American if Republicans retain control of Congress.

Trump said during a campaign rally in Mobile, Alabama: “If the Democrats win, you will have an economic depression, in my opinion, like 1929, and that is not a good time for that.”

He added: “If the Republicans win, each of you will have $5,000 in your pocket, and our country will experience economic success like never before.”

Trump had pledged, on the first day of the Republican National Convention in Dallas, to pay $5,000 to every adult American citizen if the party gains control of both chambers of Congress.

Many have raised concerns about the costs that would be borne by the nation’s treasury and the potential impact on inflation.
