Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahib held talks with Italian Director General of Public Security Governor Pietro Bisani to explore ways to enhance security cooperation and exchange expertise between the two sides. The meeting took place in Rome as part of his official visit to the friendly Italian Republic, and was attended by Kuwait’s Ambassador to Italy, Nasser Al-Qahtani.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior said that Major General Al-Wahib conveyed greetings and appreciation from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef during the meeting, emphasizing his commitment to continuing the development of security cooperation relations between the State of Kuwait and the friendly Italian Republic, and expanding areas of coordination and exchange of expertise and information to serve the mutual interests of both countries.
The statement added that the meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation in several security areas of mutual interest, foremost among them combating organized crime and illicit drug trafficking, confronting cybercrime and financial and economic crimes, strengthening border security, as well as exchanging expertise in training and qualification and leveraging modern technologies and solutions to support security operations.
It further noted that the development of information exchange mechanisms between the competent authorities in both countries was discussed, along with enhancing preventive and proactive capabilities to address emerging criminal patterns and utilizing modern technologies in monitoring, analysis, and detection processes, thereby contributing to improving the efficiency of security operations and addressing security challenges.
The statement clarified that Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahib also met with several senior officials at the Italian Ministry of Interior, discussing various topics of mutual interest and ways to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise between the two sides.
Additionally, the Deputy Minister of Interior and his accompanying delegation toured several departments under the Italian Ministry of Interior, where they reviewed their operational nature, coordination mechanisms among competent authorities, and the key systems and technologies used to support security tasks and enhance performance efficiency.
