Officially.. Egypt gives Ethiopian embassy advisor 48 hours to leave Cairo - Sarmad

In its first official response, addressing a question regarding the Ethiopian government’s decision to declare an Egyptian embassy official in Addis Ababa persona non grata, a senior source told Al-Qahera Al-Nahar TV that the move was “regrettable” and unjustified.

The source clarified that Egypt has consistently reaffirmed its firm rejection of interference in the internal affairs of other states and its policy of refraining from commenting on events in other countries, including Ethiopia, in accordance with the principles of international law and the UN Charter.

He added that the Ethiopian side has a habit of blaming its failures to manage its successive internal files and crises on alleged involvement by external parties, using such claims as a cover for its ongoing troubles.

Concluding his remarks, the source stated that, in application of the principle of reciprocity, the Egyptian authorities had declared the Ethiopian embassy counselor in Cairo persona non grata and granted him 48 hours to leave the country.
