Netanyahu: Flydubai pilot stabbed colleague and attempted to crash plane - Sarmad

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that one of the pilots aboard a Flydubai flight bound for Israel stabbed the other pilot and apparently attempted to crash the plane with all its passengers on board.

In a video addressing the incident, which captivated the world and several countries in the Middle East on Wednesday, Netanyahu said: “The plane entered a spin and began a steep descent. An Israeli passenger and a crew member managed to breach the cockpit and take control of the attacking pilot.”

Netanyahu added: “Another flight crew member succeeded in stabilizing the aircraft, thereby averting a major disaster.”

He continued: “I have instructed the security agencies to prepare for potential additional threats.”

The pilot was shown in a video covered in blood, with an oxygen mask placed on him, while several passengers were seen beside him.

As information began to emerge about the Flydubai incident from the United Arab Emirates to Israel, Netanyahu and his Defense Minister, Israel Katz, held emergency security consultations with security agency leaders regarding the aircraft.

The Israeli military announced that Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir conducted a recent assessment of the situation in collaboration with the Commander of the Air Force, the Chief of the Operations Directorate, the Chief of the Intelligence Directorate, and other senior commanders.
