Qatar PM: Netanyahu is a War Criminal Seeking to Manipulate Public Opinion - Sarmad

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, stated that Israel’s attack on Doha while Qatar was mediating between Hamas and Israel last year was a historical precedent and a violation of red lines.

In an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, published on Tuesday, the Qatari Prime Minister reiterated Qatar’s condemnation of the Israeli attack targeting Doha during the past year, saying, “We were attacked by Israel while we were pushing forward with U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal, which was unacceptable and condemned.”

He added, “Attacking mediators is a dangerous precedent that has not occurred throughout wars in history. Israeli Prime Minister (Benjamin) Netanyahu, by attacking Qatar, crossed the red line, as he had previously crossed other lines.”

Al Thani considered that Netanyahu seeks to manipulate public opinion and mislead it with false facts by attacking Qatar, noting that the Israeli Prime Minister blames others instead of examining his own conduct and that of his government, and attempts to project his own actions onto others.

When asked about the nature of Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip, Al Thani said that what is being committed in Gaza constitutes war crimes, and that Netanyahu is responsible and is a “war criminal.”

On September 9, 2025, the Israeli military launched an air strike targeting residential compounds belonging to members of Hamas’s political bureau in Doha, a move Qatar described as a “treacherous attack constituting state terrorism.”

The attack resulted in six deaths and 18 injuries, and drew widespread Arab and international condemnation.

The targeting came while Qatar, alongside Egypt and under U.S. supervision, was leading mediation efforts in indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and a prisoner exchange deal.
