Russia warns: We will use nuclear weapons if Kaliningrad is besieged - Sarmad

Russia has warned that it is prepared to use all means, including nuclear weapons, to protect the Kaliningrad region from isolation, according to a statement released by the Russian embassy in Ireland.

In its statement, the diplomatic mission said, “Information has emerged indicating that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is promising to impose an air and naval blockade on the city and region of Kaliningrad. This is not mere fantasy, but a matter causing deep concern to Russia. The European political elite, through its recklessness and short-sightedness, is playing with fire.”

The embassy warned, “No one should have the slightest doubt that Russia will be ready to use its entire arsenal, including nuclear weapons, in defense of its territory if NATO countries attempt to isolate the Kaliningrad region from the rest of the country.”

It added, “Under such a scenario, the risk of an armed confrontation rises, with the possibility that Russia would launch preemptive strikes against decision-making centers in NATO member states from the earliest stages of the conflict.” The embassy described the issue as extremely dangerous, urging Europe to treat it accordingly.

The mission pointed to the alleged Russian threat slogan, which Western media repeat daily, in order to justify increased defense spending and the continued militarization of Europe.

It further stated that the slogan also aims to sustain financial, military, and political support for the Kyiv regime, which presents itself as a bulwark against Russian aggression.
