Saudi Arabia Accuses Rapid Support Forces of Bombing Humanitarian Aid Near Al-Obeid City

Saudi Arabia has filed a complaint with the United Nations Security Council, accusing Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces of bombing aid near the city of El Obeid in North Kordofan state in mid-August.

The Rapid Support Forces continued to launch drone attacks on civilian and military targets in El Obeid, despite the Sudanese army’s success in dispelling fears of a ground invasion after it seized control of key cities and sites in North Kordofan.

On September 16, Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Wasim, sent two identical letters to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council, concerning what he described as a “serious attack targeting humanitarian aid provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.”
