Kuwait National Team Coach: Proud of the Players' Performance, Exiting the Tournament is a Difficult Feeling

(KUNA) – Kuwait national football team coach Helio Sousa expressed his pride on Saturday in the level of performance displayed by the “Azraq” (Blue) squad against their Iraqi counterparts, while voicing his regret over the defeat and emphasizing that elimination from the 27th edition of the Gulf Cup of Nations football tournament (Khaleeji 27) represents a difficult feeling for the team.

Sousa said at the post-match press conference that the national team made some changes during the game, but he prefers not to make too many alterations. He noted that the “Azraq” had several opportunities and needed greater focus at certain moments of the match, as a team cannot attack continuously throughout the entire game.

He added that the team needs to work on the small details to reach the level it aspires to, pointing out that the squad failed to achieve the result it was aiming for and must continue working to improve.

Sousa reaffirmed his pride in the players and the high level they demonstrated during the match, while simultaneously expressing his regret over the loss. He noted that the national team had two chances in the first half and created numerous opportunities in the second half.

He clarified that the “Azraq” had a chance to score a third goal, but the Iraqi national team managed to score at the end of the match. He reiterated his regret over the defeat, particularly given the level of performance shown by the players.
