Pentagon: 861 U.S. military personnel injured since the start of the war on Iran - Sarmad

Recent data released by the U.S. Department of War indicates that the total number of U.S. military personnel injured since the launch of U.S.-Israeli military operations against Iran has reached 861.

The U.S. Department of War (the Pentagon) stated that the total number of U.S. military personnel injured since the commencement of Israeli and American military operations against Iran has reached 861, according to the latest loss data published in the Defense Loss Analysis System. This figure represents a notable increase in the rate of injuries compared to the early months of the war.

During Operation "Epic Fury," which began on February 28, 418 U.S. military personnel were injured, and 14 others were killed. The U.S. Department of State officially announced the conclusion of this operation on May 5.

At the end of July, the Pentagon began classifying subsequent injuries under a separate category designated as "External Operations," following the official conclusion of Operation "Epic Fury." The latest data indicate that five fatalities and 443 injuries have been recorded in this category, without specifying the geographic locations of the operations.

The United States and Israel launched the war against Iran on February 28, 2026. In June of the same year, Washington and Tehran signed a 14-point memorandum of understanding stipulating the immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon. However, the United States resumed large-scale strikes on Iran on the night of July 8, accusing Iran of violating the agreement’s terms regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

The Pentagon continues to face criticism for delays in updating loss data on its official websites, as reports indicated that the electronic database continued to display pre-July figures for a period despite the recording of new injuries.
