Al-Shahid Park Prepares to Open Its Third Phase to the Public on October 1 - Sarmad
The Martyr’s Park is preparing to open its third phase to the public with a celebratory carnival that embodies the values of peace, harmony, and hope. Scheduled for October 1, the park’s grounds will transform over the course of the festivities into a vibrant space celebrating the future through a cohesive and aesthetically complete visual spectacle.
Anwar Al-Yatama, representing the Amir’s Diwan and serving as head of the committee overseeing the supervision, management, and follow-up of the park’s third phase, made these remarks at a press conference held on Saturday in the Round Hall of the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center. She described the Martyr’s Park as a national project that adds a distinctive dimension to Kuwait’s cultural and entertainment landscape, reflecting the state’s commitment to providing comprehensive destinations that serve the community and align with its aspirations.
She explained that the third phase builds upon the achievements of the first and second phases, offering a renewed vision and high-quality components that integrate culture, art, entertainment, and sports within a modern and sustainable environment. This development aims to enhance the park’s status as one of Kuwait’s premier destinations and provide a holistic experience for all family members.
Al-Yatama added that the opening will coincide with a celebratory carnival on October 1 and 2, featuring a series of events and activities designed to offer the public a memorable occasion to celebrate this national achievement and explore the new facilities and experiences available in the third phase.
She extended her sincere gratitude and appreciation to Capital Governor Sheikh Abdullah Salem Al-Ali for his support of the occasion, as well as to Kuwait Finance House, Al-Shaya Group, Ooredoo Kuwait, and Binstar Al-Yousif for their sponsorship and support of the opening and the accompanying carnival. She noted that these efforts highlight the importance of effective partnership between state institutions and the private sector in supporting national projects and initiatives.
“We look forward to the third phase of the Martyr’s Park serving as a continuation of the successes achieved in previous phases and as a new launchpad for more events and activities that meet the community’s aspirations and strengthen Kuwait’s presence as an attractive destination for culture and entertainment,” she said.
For his part, Vice Chairman of the Committee, Khaled Al-Filakawi, praised the efforts of sponsors, supporters, and all those who contributed to the success of the occasion in a similar address. He stated that these sponsorships reflect a distinctive model of partnership and cooperation, underscoring the private sector’s commitment to fulfilling its social role and supporting national, cultural, and entertainment projects and events in Kuwait.
“We highly value this partnership and look forward to its continuation and development in the future, contributing to the delivery of distinctive events and initiatives that serve the community and enrich Kuwait’s cultural and entertainment landscape,” he said.
For his part, Abdullah Al-Ruwaih, Representative of Kuwait Finance House and Head of Public Relations and Media for the Group, emphasized the institution’s commitment to building and strengthening strategic partnerships with key state entities, including the Martyr’s Park in its third phase.
He added, “We are pleased to support this distinguished project, which extends Kuwait’s role in backing national community initiatives. This support is driven by our belief in the importance of social responsibility and the leadership role played by Kuwait Finance House in this field.”
He noted that Kuwait Finance House (KFH) firmly believes that these projects constitute some of the most important national initiatives, which will, God willing, have a positive impact on society. He added that the partnership with Martyr’s Park underscores KFH’s commitment to fulfilling its role and providing necessary support for projects that open up new tourism and recreational horizons, while strengthening strategic partnerships that contribute to achieving development goals in line with Kuwait Vision 2035.
He highlighted that KFH has a distinguished track record in supporting this type of initiative, particularly national and community-driven efforts. He expressed pride in this partnership and looked forward to continuing support for such projects, which help stimulate economic and tourism activity and foster growth, thereby contributing to sustainable development in Kuwait. He extended his sincere gratitude to all those involved in the project and its implementation.
For his part, Hamoud Al-Shaikh, representing the Al-Shaikh Group, said in his speech: “From the outset, we have believed that our role extends beyond the commercial sphere to include making a positive and sustainable contribution to the communities in which we live and work.” He considered Martyr’s Park to embody this vision, describing it as a distinctive destination in the heart of Kuwait City that combines green spaces, culture, and recreation, offering individuals and families a place to gather and spend time together, becoming an integral part of their daily lives.
He stated that “our support for this phase reflects our firm commitment to our homeland, Kuwait, and our belief in the importance of integrating efforts among various entities and the positive impact such integration can achieve in serving society and enhancing the quality of life.”

For his part, Nasser Al-Arfaj, Director of Strategic and Public Relations at Ooredoo Kuwait, stated that Ooredoo was keen to sponsor this distinguished national project, which represents a significant addition to Kuwait’s cultural, recreational, and environmental landscape.
He expressed pride in this partnership with the Diwan Amir, noting that it is not limited to this occasion but “will extend, God willing, into the coming years through unconventional activities to be implemented on the ground in collaboration with the Diwan Amir.”
Al-Arfaj pointed out that these activities will have positive effects on society, as well as on visitors and park patrons, by offering diverse and distinctive experiences and events. He noted that Ooredoo’s geographical proximity to Martyr’s Park (Phase III) represents an extension of joint activities, with special events planned for theater and sports, alongside community development initiatives and joint seminars with the Diwan Amir.
He thanked the Diwan Amir for this event and expressed his gratitude to all sponsors for their unlimited support of such developmental projects that benefit society and contribute to enhancing events and initiatives that serve Kuwait.
For her part, Noura Al-Ahmad, a member of the Supervisory Committee, outlined the key features of the carnival in her speech, explaining that it aims to revive and showcase the park’s diverse and unique facilities through a comprehensive program spanning two days, integrating culture, arts, recreation, and sports.
Al-Ahmad highlighted the key features of the carnival, including light shows that illuminate and enliven the dome of the Sor Theater; entertainment performances for children and families that animate the outdoor stages and various open spaces; traditional Kuwaiti performances that reflect the national heritage and cultural identity of Kuwait; festive processions that roam throughout the park, creating a distinctive celebratory atmosphere; and artistic installations, creative works, and light displays that enhance visitors’ experience and enrich the carnival ambiance.
She also pointed out dynamic and sports-related activities featuring local athletes in parkour and skateboarding areas, adding a vibrant touch to the experience, as well as a variety of activities distributed across all park facilities, presented by sponsors and partners with the aim of delighting visitors of all ages.
She clarified that visitors can learn about all events and their locations through the carnival schedule and an interactive map that indicates the locations of various activities and performances within the park.
