Iraqji: Iran presented the US with a 7-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz

Iran announced that it has submitted a plan to the United States calling for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within seven days, provided certain conditions are met, with talks between the two countries to resume after the strait is reopened.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told American media outlets that Iran had presented the United States with a seven-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Araghchi stated: “We have submitted a plan to the United States through intermediaries, according to which, if certain conditions are met, the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened by the end of the seventh day, and talks will resume.” According to the New York Times, which quoted Araghchi, the proposal includes halting all hostile actions for seven days in the Middle East, including in Lebanon; releasing Iranian frozen assets worth at least $12 billion; lifting sanctions on Iranian oil; and ending the U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports. He clarified that if the conditions are met, Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz on the seventh and final day. Araghchi affirmed that he is awaiting a response from the United States, noting that China, whose president is on a state visit to the United States, supports the proposal.
