David Bird, the U.S. Ambassador to China, revealed the substance of what U.S. President Donald Trump conveyed to his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, during their discussions at the White House.

Bird emphasized that Trump made it clear to his Chinese counterpart that any support Beijing provides to Iran is absolutely unacceptable.

In an interview with U.S. network CNBC, he added that his country had clearly communicated to the Chinese, weeks ago, that any assistance provided to Iran, whether direct or indirect, and whether in the form of intelligence information, spare parts, or military equipment, is entirely unacceptable. He noted that President Trump reiterated this stance yesterday as part of a consistent and ongoing message.

The U.S. Ambassador continued by stating that the two leaders have begun building a relationship characterized by a degree of mutual trust and are working together to address the issues on the agenda. He described the talks as candid and open, affirming that each dialogue between them reveals a growing level of understanding regarding these thorny and complex files facing both countries.
