Qatar rejects Netanyahu's accusations of launching a campaign to influence public opinion against Israel

Dr. Majid Al-Ansari, advisor to the Prime Minister and official spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, firmly rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s accusation that Qatar was waging a campaign to influence public opinion against Israel, as stated in his address to the General Assembly.

In a post on his X account, Dr. Al-Ansari stated that this continuous escalatory rhetoric against Qatar was merely an attempt to divert attention from the violations committed by his government in the occupied Palestinian territories and their humanitarian repercussions.

He added that reducing the growing shift in global public opinion, particularly among youth and emerging generations, to claims of “influence campaigns” was a dismissal of a generation’s awareness. This generation witnesses firsthand, under the eyes of the world, what is happening on the ground and forms its positions based on the facts it observes.

He continued: “If Netanyahu and other Israeli extremist politicians, who are now addressing empty halls, want the world to view Israel differently, they must begin by changing their policies, halting their violations, respecting international law, and taking responsibility before their electorate, rather than seeking scapegoats to blame for the decline in Israel’s global image.”

Dr. Al-Ansari emphasized that attempts to hold Qatar, or any other country, responsible for a global shift in public opinion driven by what people witness firsthand are no longer convincing. This repeated attack on Qatar can only be understood as an effort to divert attention from political responsibility for policies and practices on the ground, and to exploit the situation for domestic political calculations.
