Saudi Grand Mufti: Houthis are a criminal gang with corrupt beliefs and methodology
Dr. Salih al-Fawzan, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, and President of the General Authority for Islamic Research and Fatwa, emphasized that restoring security and stability in Yemen is among the most obligatory duties. He described the Houthi group as a gang of evil and a plot of enemies, noting that it is founded on corruption in creed and methodology. The group rebelled against its rulers, sparking successive fitnas (seditions) over many years, ultimately sowing division among the land and its people.
In a statement addressed to the stationed forces and the Coalition forces, he extended greetings and appreciation to the Coalition, stating, “You are at a great frontier and engaged in a noble and honorable mission. Therefore, hold fast to the rope of Allah, unite your ranks, cooperate among yourselves, and unify your word in obedience to the command of your Lord: ‘And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided’ (Al-Imran: 103). Know that you are fighting an enemy who has corrupted the land, divided the people, rebelled against its rulers, and sought evil against the sanctities of Muslims; but Allah is watching over them.”
The statement by Dr. Salih al-Fawzan, Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, urged the stationed forces to exercise patience, perseverance, and steadfastness. He said, “Allah has distinguished you with immense favor and reward. Allah says: ‘O you who believe! Be patient, persevere, keep your stations, and fear Allah, that you may succeed’ (Al-Imran: 200). And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in an authentic narration: ‘Standing guard for one day in the cause of Allah is better than the world and all that it contains.’”
He further noted that the stationed forces must always be ready to fulfill their duties, obey their rulers and field commanders, and execute orders with precision. He also stressed that restoring security and stability in Yemen under its legitimate leadership is among the most obligatory duties, so that our Yemeni brothers may live in safety, security, prosperity, and stability, and so that their state, along with the rest of the Islamic world, can achieve progress, development, and cohesion.
