Omani maritime security evacuates crew of Antigua and Barbuda-flagged commercial vessel after it was targeted in the Strait of Hormuz - Sarmad

(KUNA) – The Omani Maritime Security Center announced on Wednesday the evacuation of the crew of a ship flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda after it was targeted 2.5 nautical miles off Musandam Governorate, which overlooks the Strait of Hormuz.

The Center stated in a statement that one of the vessels of the Royal Navy of Oman, in cooperation and coordination with the relevant authorities, carried out the evacuation of the crew of the commercial vessel "Cape Daw."

The statement clarified that 27 crew members were evacuated and provided with the necessary medical care, adding that the targeting resulted in a fire in the engine room of the commercial vessel and the death of one crew member.
