Israeli occupation police announce foiling of plot to assassinate Ben Gvir with a drone - Sarmad

The Israeli police announced on Wednesday that they had thwarted the activities of a Palestinian cell from the Nablus area, following the filing of indictment papers against two of its members.

The police’s Counter-Terrorism Unit in the “Yehuda and Samaria” Brigade (the Hebrew designation for the West Bank), in coordination with the Israeli General Security Service (Shin Bet), said they had disrupted the cell’s operations after charging two Palestinian members.

Investigations revealed that the suspects had planned a series of offensive operations, most notably plotting to assassinate Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, either through a “lure operation” or by using an explosive-laden drone, for which they attempted to purchase components from China.

The investigations further indicated that the suspects had been amassing an arsenal of weapons since late 2023, including M-16 and M-4 rifles, Kalashnikovs, and pistols, in addition to recruiting activists and conducting firearms training. They also planned to carry out attacks using explosive-laden vehicles and drones, and to kidnap Israeli soldiers.

The military prosecutor filed indictments against them, requesting an extension of their detention until the completion of legal proceedings.
