Trump: We reached a "very good" consensus with the Iranian side - Sarmad

U.S. President Donald Trump revealed on Tuesday that his team held a “very good” three-hour meeting with the Iranian delegation present in New York to participate in the current session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Trump made these remarks to reporters during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the General Assembly. In response to a question about whether anyone from his team had met with the Iranian delegation, Trump said, “Yes, and things went very well,” noting that “the meeting ended an hour after it had lasted three hours and was very good.”

He added, “I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t want to do it. It’s either potential greatness (for Iran) or total destruction.”

In response to a question about the available options, he reiterated that “it means total destruction, and the other alternative is potential greatness, and (Iran) can be a great country.”

In the same context, Trump told reporters following his meeting with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham on the sidelines of the General Assembly, “I think a settlement (with the Iranians) will be reached.”

He added, “They want to talk to us, and the relationship is developing, but we cannot allow them—and they know that—we cannot allow them to possess a nuclear weapon.”
