Health Ministry: Legal measures regarding professional violations in private health facilities - Sarmad

The Ministry of Health stated that it continues to take the necessary legal measures regarding professional errors and violations confirmed by inspection and oversight activities and reports from technical committees in private hospitals, clinics, and health centers.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry said that the relevant technical committees concluded that professional violations had been established against a consultant physician of internal medicine, in his capacity as the license holder and medical director of private health facilities. Three separate penalties were imposed on him, including a financial fine of 4,000 dinars, a three-month suspension from work, and a financial fine of 3,000 dinars.

It added that the two financial penalties were imposed in accordance with Item 3 of Paragraph 2 of Article 75 of Law No. 70 of 2020 concerning the practice of medicine and its auxiliary professions, patients’ rights, and health facilities.

In another incident, a report by the relevant technical committee confirmed a medical error and a professional violation against a consultant physician of ophthalmology and eye surgery working at one of the private medical centers. Consequently, his license to practice was temporarily suspended for one year, in accordance with Item 4 of Paragraph 1 of Article 75 of the same law.

The Ministry of Health emphasized that it remains committed to strict oversight of both public and private health facilities, taking legal action against anyone found to have committed violations, without leniency in matters concerning patient safety, the quality of healthcare, and adherence to professional regulations.

It stressed that all measures are taken based on inspection and investigation findings and the conclusions reached by the relevant technical committees, in accordance with approved legal and procedural frameworks, thereby ensuring the protection of patients’ rights, accountability for violators, and the enhancement of professional discipline within the health sector.
