China: We held "candid and constructive" talks with the United States in New York - Sarmad

Chinese state media reported on Monday that China and the United States held frank, in-depth, and constructive talks on key economic and trade issues, including dialogue on matters related to artificial intelligence.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng held talks in New York on Sunday as part of a meeting aimed at paving the way for potential agreements on artificial intelligence, tariffs, and critical minerals, ahead of a significant summit scheduled for this week between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.

Earlier on Sunday, Bessent said that the talks with the Chinese side on trade and artificial intelligence had been highly successful, while hinting at the possibility of reducing tariffs on consumer goods and low-technology products.
