US Federal Communications Commission grants SpaceX international license for Starlink Mobile - Sarmad

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted SpaceX an international license under Section 214, allowing it to provide cross-border communications services via Starlink Mobile.

This move paves the way for expanding global roaming and direct-to-cell satellite connectivity services for conventional smartphones.

According to specialized reports, the license permits the company to route communications and data traffic between the United States and other countries, while also enabling it to offer its services through its subsidiaries in markets across Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Through this service, SpaceX aims to expand direct satellite-to-mobile connectivity, including voice calls and data services in areas lacking terrestrial telecommunications networks. In later phases, the company targets connection speeds of up to 150 megabits per second, according to media reports.

However, approval by the U.S. regulator does not guarantee automatic commercial launch in all countries, as the company will still need to obtain licenses and approvals from local regulatory authorities in each market before operating the service.
