Qatari Prime Minister: Our region has witnessed what I can only describe as an earthquake - Sarmad

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated that the region needs a framework that respects state sovereignty and in which no state poses a threat to another, emphasizing that lasting security cannot be built through repeated cycles of escalation and retaliation.

He added that regional states must work to build trust, address sources of tension, and eliminate causes of disagreement, stressing that Qatar continues to work through diplomacy to achieve stability in the region.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman described what the region has witnessed as an “earthquake,” saying its aftershocks have extended beyond its borders and put assumptions about security and stability to a real test.

He explained that discussions held during the crisis always began with the security file before moving to issues of energy supplies and shipping, noting that, from Qatar’s perspective, diplomacy and economic stability are closely intertwined.

Energy and Investment

The Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister said that energy represents a strength for his country, while technology represents its future, affirming that Qatar will not allow short-term disruptions to dictate its course despite the prevailing uncertainty.

He added that Qatar is moving forward by investing in reform, strengthening its resilience, and creating new opportunities for growth, affirming that it will remain a committed mediator, a reliable energy supplier, and an investment partner.

He stressed that diplomacy protects the conditions that enable people to trade, invest, and plan, emphasizing the need to build trust and address sources of tension among regional states.
