Syrian security forces announced on Saturday the arrest of one of the key figures in a cell based in Dhu’ala, which was responsible for the deaths of three of its members during an operation in the south of the country.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that Internal Security Forces in Daraa province arrested Walid Al-Falah, one of the main leaders of the cell implicated in the killing of three security personnel in Al-Sanamin, in the Daraa countryside.
The three security personnel were killed in a firefight with an armed group in Daraa, southern Syria, during a security raid targeting a fugitive, according to authorities’ announcement last Thursday. A government source said the fugitive belonged to the Islamic State (ISIS) group.
Security forces subsequently detained five other individuals. Spokesman for the Syrian Ministry of Interior, Nour Al-Din Al-Baba, stated that the operation enabled the dismantling of criminal cells and others linked to ISIS that had been coordinating with each other.
