Moscow: NATO strengthens its military presence in the Arctic region without justification

Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the European Affairs Department at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed on Saturday that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has recently strengthened its military presence and intensified its training exercises in the Arctic region, doing so rapidly and without justification.

In a statement to Sputnik, Maslennikov said, “Recently, NATO member states have been working to enhance their military presence and intensify their maneuvers in the Arctic region, rapidly and without justification.”

Maslennikov noted that in February of this year, NATO’s permanent mission, named “Arctic Sentinel,” was launched, under whose auspices the alliance’s joint military exercises in Russia’s far north and the Arctic regions have been transferred.
