The Ministry of Interior stated that the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the Investigations Department of Al-Ahmadi Governorate, succeeded in apprehending a non-Kuwaiti suspect in a case involving the trafficking of imported alcohol.
The Ministry noted that the arrest followed extensive searches, inquiries, and verification of the credibility of the information. The suspect was apprehended in the Jabir Al-Ahmad area as he was leaving his residence. Upon interrogation, he confessed to trafficking imported alcohol and directed investigators to its storage location within his home. Consequently, 172 bottles of imported alcohol and a cash sum of 465.750 Kuwaiti dinars were seized.
The Ministry indicated that suspicions of money laundering emerged regarding the proceeds from this illegal activity. The suspect used his bank accounts to sell imported alcohol by sending payment links to buyers and depositing the collected funds into his accounts, thereby attempting to legitimize the illicit proceeds.
It added that the necessary legal procedures are currently being taken against the suspect, paving the way for his referral to the competent authorities to complete the prescribed legal processes.
