Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Investment Explores with the Prime Minister of Canada Ways to Enhance Economic and Investment Relations

(KUNA) – The Managing Director of the Public Authority for Investment, Sheikh Saud Salem Al-Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, held discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on ways to strengthen economic and investment relations between Kuwait and Canada.

The Authority stated in a press release to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday that this took place during a meeting between the two sides on the sidelines of Sheikh Saud Salem Al-Abdulaziz Al-Sabah’s participation in the inaugural edition of the “Canada Investment Summit 2026,” held in Toronto on September 14 and 15.

The Authority clarified that the Managing Director conveyed greetings from His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him, as well as from His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and from His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, may God protect him. He also conveyed their best wishes for Canada and its people, wishing them continued progress and prosperity.

The meeting addressed the historical and long-standing relations between Kuwait and Canada, the Public Authority for Investment’s investment presence in Canadian markets, and ways to enhance economic and investment ties between the two countries.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Managing Director held a series of meetings with several senior Canadian officials, including Foreign Minister Anita Anand and Ontario Premier Doug Ford. He also met with leaders of prominent Canadian pension funds and investment institutions.

The Authority noted that the meetings focused on exchanging views on developments in the global investment environment and Canada’s economic and investment outlook, as well as exploring areas of mutual interest and opportunities to enhance cooperation and investment partnerships.

The Authority participated in the summit, which brought together a select group of leading global investors, business leaders, and government officials, with the aim of strengthening ties between Canada and major global investment institutions and showcasing long-term investment opportunities in the Canadian market.

The Public Authority for Investment has maintained an investment presence in Canada for over 25 years. Its participation in the summit and accompanying meetings reflects its commitment to strengthening relations with international partners and continuing dialogue with governments and leading investment institutions in global markets.
