US Diesel Prices Continue to Break Records - Sarmad

The average price of diesel in the United States hit a record high for the second consecutive day, rising to $6.31 per gallon (approximately 3.8 liters) yesterday, according to data from the American Automobile Association.

For comparison, the average diesel price reached a record high of $6.27 per gallon last Tuesday. The previous all-time record, which had held since 2022, was approximately $5.82 per gallon. At the beginning of last year, a gallon of diesel in the United States was selling for an average of less than $3.50.

California bears the heaviest burden, with the average diesel price in the state reaching $8.26 per gallon, while prices at some fuel stations in the state exceed $9 per gallon.

Diesel prices directly impact the cost of goods, as it is the fuel used to power agricultural machinery and heavy trucks that underpin supply chains.

Days ago, U.S. President Donald Trump called on Volodymyr Zelensky to halt attacks on Russia’s fuel infrastructure, asserting that these attacks are the cause of the diesel shortage, rather than the situation in the Middle East.
