Pakistani Army: "Makkah Agreement" is defensive and relates to collective deterrence - Sarmad

Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson for the Pakistan Army, stated that the “Makkah Agreement” for collective defense among Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan is of a defensive nature, focusing on enhancing collective deterrence, as well as regional stability and security.

Chaudhry added, in an interview with Al Arabiya English on Tuesday, that the agreement can accommodate new partners who wish to join and who believe in peace, stability, and regional security, and who share the principles of non-aggression, non-interference, and collective restraint. He noted that the decision to admit any new parties rests with the political leaderships of the member states of the agreement.

The Pakistan Army spokesperson also pointed out that the defense agreement among Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan complements the strategic relationship linking Pakistan and China.
