Minister of Social Affairs Discusses Executive Steps to Strengthen the Domestic Violence Protection System - Sarmad

(KUNA) – Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Minister Dr. Umthail Al-Hawaili discussed on Tuesday, while chairing the third meeting of the National Committee for Protection from Domestic Violence, the executive steps aimed at enhancing family security and community stability in the country.

Al-Hawaili stated in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the meeting addressed the initiatives and perspectives submitted by the relevant member entities of the committee, and examined mechanisms to strengthen joint efforts and institutional coordination among state sectors and civil society organizations.

She added that the discussions focused on activating joint efforts to move forward toward formulating a comprehensive and integrated national strategy for protection from domestic violence, ensuring the development of an advanced and sustainable preventive and therapeutic system.

She emphasized that formulating this strategy translates the directives of the Supreme Leadership regarding the necessity of mobilizing all efforts and capabilities to protect the family unit, and to activate the provisions of relevant decrees and legislation.

She clarified that the integration of roles among the concerned entities and the discussion of their initiatives constitute the fundamental pillar for developing mechanisms to monitor reports, provide immediate and effective protection to victims, and offer the necessary psychological and social support to family members.

She stressed the importance of raising community awareness of the system of rights and responsibilities in accordance with the state’s laws and legislation, contributing to strengthening family protection and consolidating community stability.
