The National Cancer Awareness Campaign, “CAN,” launched its awareness campaign on head and neck cancer, which will run until the end of the current month, under the slogan “Your Awareness Makes the Difference.” The campaign aims to provide health information about the disease, its types, associated risk factors, and preventive measures.
Dr. Khaled Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “CAN,” stated in a press statement that awareness constitutes a fundamental aspect of cancer control efforts. He noted that head and neck cancer encompasses a range of cancers affecting various areas of the head and neck.
He added that educating the public about these cancer types and their associated risk factors is one of the key focuses of the campaign during September, with the goal of raising the level of health literacy among members of society.
Al-Saleh pointed out that the campaign’s program includes organizing awareness exhibitions at several health centers and hospitals, aiming to reach the public directly and provide them with health information and guidance related to head and neck cancer.
He explained that the campaign will also disseminate awareness materials and leaflets via social media platforms, enabling access to a broader audience and delivering health messages in a simplified and reliable manner.
Al-Saleh emphasized “CAN’s” commitment, through its campaigns, to ensuring that awareness messages reach all segments of society, while paying special attention to the role of healthcare workers, who are considered key partners in spreading awareness and promoting a culture of prevention.
