(WAM) – The Organizing Committee of the Arab Media Summit announced that Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa will participate as a keynote speaker at this edition, which is the largest in the history of the region’s most prominent media event, under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
This participation comes within a main dialogue session dedicated to His Excellency during the official opening of the first day of the summit, which launches tomorrow (Tuesday) and runs until September 17.
The participation of the Syrian President adds significant qualitative weight to the summit, which brings together under one roof a distinguished group of senior government officials, leaders of major Arab and international media institutions, prominent writers and thinkers, leading content creators and influencers, and experts and academics concerned with the media sector from the region and around the world. They gather in Dubai to discuss various factors influencing the future of media and strategic communication.
The dialogue with President al-Sharaa takes place through the most prominent Arab media platform, at a time when the region is witnessing profound transformations amid rapid political, economic, and social developments. The summit, through its eight specialized forums, will highlight the key factors that will shape the contours of Arab media in the coming phase, as well as the role of media in enhancing public awareness and determining the optimal approach to regional and global developments, particularly from the perspective of decision-makers.
Muna Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and Chair of the Arab Media Summit Organizing Committee, expressed her warm welcome to the participation of President Ahmed al-Sharaa, emphasizing that his participation gives the summit an important strategic dimension and confirms its status as a pivotal regional platform for meeting heads of state and government, senior government officials, and leaders of a vital sector that is highly interconnected with people’s lives and influential in shaping their awareness and convictions—the media sector.
She said: “We are honored to host President Ahmed al-Sharaa at the Arab Media Summit 2026. This high-profile participation is of great importance, offering a unique opportunity to listen to His Excellency’s views and ideas on various topics related to the future of Syria and the region.”

This will take place through eight specialized forums included in the summit, which also celebrates media excellence through three important awards: the Arab Media Award, the Arab Media Youth Award, and the Arab Social Media Pioneers Award.
