Anthropic chooses Nasdaq stock exchange for its initial public offering - Sarmad

According to Business Insider, citing a source familiar with the plans, Anthropic, the American technology startup, has selected the Nasdaq stock exchange for its potential initial public offering (IPO).

The artificial intelligence company, behind the Claude model, aims to list on the exchange in October, a move that would give Nasdaq another major victory in the competition to attract the largest technology firms.

According to Business Insider, Nasdaq earlier this year secured the listing of SpaceX, valued at approximately $1.75 trillion. Some estimates suggest Anthropic’s valuation could reach around $1 trillion, although the final value has not yet been determined.

The competition between the two exchanges is gaining significance due to the record size expected for these offerings, as well as the rarity of major technology companies going public in recent years.

Both Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange are striving to cement their status as the primary destination for the next generation of AI companies planning to go public.

Anthropic’s preparation for its listing comes as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that his company is not currently considering an IPO, amid growing debate over the potential existential risks posed by artificial intelligence.

Concerns about these risks intensified last week following the widespread circulation of a post on the X platform written by a former Anthropic employee, who warned that the probability of human extinction due to AI risks could exceed 10 percent.
