Al-Faleh and Al-Fajam discuss strategic partnership to consolidate institutional sustainability - Sarmad

State Minister for Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Al-Faleh, and Director General of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, Dr. Hassan Al-Fajam, held a coordination meeting to discuss the strategic partnership between the two parties, aimed at entrenching sustainability as a measurable institutional practice within the applied education and training system.

In a press statement on Monday, the Authority stated that the two sides discussed implementing the government’s environmental sustainability reporting system across the Authority’s colleges, institutes, and facilities. This includes measuring indicators related to energy, water, waste, and resource consumption, and building a documented database to support decision-making and identify improvement opportunities.

It added that the meeting reviewed existing educational outputs to integrate sustainability standards into curricula, and to direct a portion of research and graduation projects toward national priorities and projects determined in coordination with the ministry.

The Authority clarified that the meeting also addressed gradually transforming the Authority’s facilities into an applied model of sustainability, through enhancing energy and water efficiency, waste segregation, measuring environmental impact, and preparing an institutional sustainability report. Additionally, it highlighted the activation of community service and lifelong learning programs, sustainability ambassadors and clubs, volunteer initiatives, and green entrepreneurship.

It noted efforts to develop digital indicators and monitoring dashboards, and to support the adoption of green building standards in the Authority’s future projects. An agreement was reached to translate these pathways into an organized cooperation framework encompassing joint initiatives, clear monitoring indicators, and impact measurement.
