The Islamic World Charity Organization (IWCO) implemented a project to provide complete school bags and winter clothing for approximately 500 male and female students from low-income families in primary, intermediate, and secondary stages within Kuwait. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the “Bus of Goodness” volunteer team affiliated with the organization, and with the participation of students from the Faculty of Medicine at Kuwait University.
Khaled Al-Sharaf, Acting Director of the Volunteer Work Department at the organization, stated that the project is part of IWCO’s efforts to support students, create a more stable educational environment for them, and alleviate the financial burdens borne by their families with the start of the academic year.
Al-Sharaf explained that the distribution process spans four days and covers areas in the governorates of Ahmadi, Hawalli, Farwaniya, and Jahra. Volunteers deliver the aid directly to beneficiaries’ homes to preserve their privacy and ensure efficient, organized distribution.
He added that each student receives a school bag containing a complete set of stationery and supplies appropriate for their educational level, along with a winter jacket, helping to meet part of their academic needs and prepare for the winter season.
He noted that the participation of Kuwait University medical students gives the project an educational and community dimension, offering young people the opportunity to engage in hands-on volunteer work, understand community needs, and strengthen values of initiative, solidarity, and social responsibility.
Al-Sharaf emphasized that the organization views its volunteer teams as active partners in executing its mission within Kuwait, stressing that the success of community initiatives is not measured solely by the number of distributed aid packages, but by their ability to preserve beneficiaries’ dignity, reach them efficiently, and create a real impact on their lives.
He commended the efforts of the “Bus of Goodness” team, medical students, and all participants in organizing and implementing the project, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to developing partnerships with youth talent and directing volunteer work toward well-planned initiatives that respond to the actual needs of beneficiary groups.
