Iraq condemns the targeting of Saudi Arabia.. Al-Zaidi orders urgent investigation - Sarmad

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi stated that the state would not tolerate any activity that endangers Iraq or its relations with fraternal and friendly countries, following Saudi Arabia’s announcement that it had been targeted by attacks originating from Iraqi territory.

Al-Zaidi ordered an urgent investigation into the circumstances of the attacks and the parties behind them, according to a report by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

In a statement, the spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah al-Nu’man, said that “the Iraqi government condemns the attacks that targeted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a fraternal nation, and reaffirms its rejection of any aggression that threatens the security and stability of the Kingdom, or harms the established brotherly relations between the two countries.”

He added that “the Iraqi government appreciates the Kingdom’s position and its response to Iraq’s efforts to contain the situation, which reflects its commitment to Iraq’s security and stability, as well as its dedication to continuing the path of brotherly relations and cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of both fraternal peoples.”

He continued that “in this context, the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali al-Zaidi, directed the taking of legal measures against anyone proven to be involved, emphasizing that the state will not tolerate any activity that endangers Iraq or its relations with fraternal and friendly countries.”

He noted that “the Iraqi government reaffirms its commitment to continue working with brothers and friends to prevent the recurrence of such attacks, to reinforce respect for the law and the principles of good neighborliness, and to protect Iraq’s interests and enhance its positive role in its regional environment.”

He pointed out that “Iraq reiterates that its territory and airspace will not be used as a launching pad for aggression against any country, and that its policy is based on respecting the sovereignty of states, rejecting aggression against them, and working to ensure that its relations with its regional neighbors serve as a bridge for cooperation and stability, rather than a arena for tension and conflict.”
