President of the Kuwait Football Association Meets Infantino in Switzerland - Sarmad

(KUNA) – Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Football Association (KFA), announced on Thursday that the association has begun the process of obtaining the necessary licenses from relevant authorities to construct a new headquarters and training pitches for the Azraq Academy, supported by a financial contribution of $8 million from FIFA through the FIFA Forward program.

This statement followed a meeting between Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef and FIFA President Gianni Infantino to discuss the latest sports developments, held at FIFA’s headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.

Sheikh Al-Yousef stated that he discussed general football developments and specific matters concerning the KFA, including an agreement for FIFA’s Head of Football Development, French coach Arsène Wenger, to visit Kuwait next November to inaugurate the Azraq Academy.

He further noted that during the meeting, he highlighted that the KFA has initiated the procedures to secure the required permits from the Public Authority for Youth and Sports and the Kuwait Municipality to build the new KFA headquarters and the Azraq Academy facilities.
