Acting Prime Minister Chairs Meeting with Delegations from Iraq and the United States - Sarmad

(KUNA) – Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Saud Al-Sabah chaired a meeting on Thursday at Bayan Palace with delegations from the Republic of Iraq, a fraternal country, and the United States of America, a friendly nation. The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jaraah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Assistant Minister of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahhab, representatives of the Ministry of Defense, and several diplomatic, security, and military leaders.

In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Youssef emphasized the importance of continuing consultations and coordination with the Iraqi and American sides, as well as enhancing security and defense cooperation to address common challenges in light of regional developments, in a manner that serves shared interests and contributes to preserving the security and stability of the region.

The statement noted that the meeting reviewed areas of joint cooperation and ways to strengthen them, and discussed several issues of mutual interest, alongside exchanging views on regional conditions and current developments.

It clarified that the meeting also addressed a number of security and defense files of mutual interest and the existing coordination among participating parties, which enhances integration and the exchange of expertise and supports efforts aimed at consolidating security and stability in the region.

The Iraqi delegation was led by Lieutenant General Abdulameer Al-Shamari, Director of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and included a number of officials and specialized leaders. The American delegation was led by Admiral Liam Hoolihan, Commander of the Joint Task Force for Operation “Solid Resolve,” and included a number of officials and specialized leaders.
