Syria condemns Netanyahu’s tour of the Golan Heights, calling it a “provocative step” - Sarmad

Syria strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s tour inside Syrian territory, describing it as “a provocative step and a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic and of international law.”

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry referred to “the illegal entry of Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu into Syrian territory and his tour of Mount Hermon.”

The ministry affirmed that “the continued Israeli incursions and attacks within Syrian territory constitute a dangerous escalation that threatens security and stability in the region.”

Syria placed “full responsibility for the consequences of these violations on the Israeli occupation,” calling on the United Nations, international organizations, and key states to fulfill their responsibilities, halt these attacks, and return to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Earlier on Wednesday, Netanyahu said on his X (formerly Twitter) account that he had met Israeli soldiers at the summit of Mount Hermon.

He added in another post accompanied by a photo: “Today at the summit of Mount Hermon in Syria. We will not allow any terrorist army to establish a foothold on our borders. We are committed to defeating the terrorist regime in Iran, and we will do so.”
