“Ministry of Education”: Ban on collecting funds or accepting donations and contributions within schools - Sarmad
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Khaled Al-Rashid, issued a circular today, Wednesday, outlining the regulations and prohibitions governing work and conduct within schools. The circular includes a set of rules organizing professional, administrative, and educational practices, emphasizing that all schools must comply with them.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Education said the circular mandated all schools and their teaching, administrative, and operational staff to adhere to a number of controls and prohibitions. Among the most prominent is the ban on collecting monetary amounts or accepting cash, in-kind, or other donations within the school from teachers, administrators, students, or parents for any purpose.
The ministry added that the circular prohibits the sale of goods or services to students and staff, as well as promoting or advertising them, or exploiting one’s position and school facilities for personal benefit. It strongly emphasized the ban on selling, distributing, or bringing food or beverages from unapproved sources into the school for any reason, and on operating the school cafeteria or offering products that do not comply with health regulations.
The ministry clarified that the circular also prohibits organizing any event, activity, or celebration that involves hosting individuals from outside the Ministry of Education, or conducting any filming within the school premises without prior explicit written approval from the competent authority within the ministry.
It stressed the prohibition of using the school’s name or the Ministry of Education’s logo in any publications, advertisements, or commercial sponsorships without obtaining the approved administrative and official permissions and coordination.
The ministry pointed out the ban on photographing, recording, publishing images of, or disseminating data of students without prior written consent that meets the required controls. It also prohibited circulating their images through private social media accounts or groups, as well as linking students’ images with their personal information or using them outside their designated educational purpose.
Furthermore, the ministry highlighted the prohibition of disclosing or leaking school secrets, documents, or the data of students, parents, and staff. It also banned publishing rumors, incorrect information, or any content offensive to the ministry, the school, students, or staff via social media or other channels.
The ministry noted that the circular stipulates that teaching staff must not use mobile phones or smart devices during class hours for non-educational purposes, in a manner that does not affect the performance of their duties or the flow of the lesson.
It affirmed that any behaviors or actions that violate systems and regulations or fall outside the framework of proper professional practices within the school will not be tolerated. Legal and administrative measures will be taken immediately against any violation.
