Meta Launches 'Muse' to Execute User Tasks with AI - Sarmad

Meta has launched a new AI-powered personal assistant named “Muse,” a move that reflects the company’s shift toward developing agents capable of carrying out tasks on behalf of users, rather than merely answering questions and providing information.
According to TechCrunch, a technology news platform, “Muse” requires integration with the apps and services users engage with in their daily lives, including email, calendars, payment and shopping services, restaurants, health and fitness apps, music platforms, and event services.
Meta stated that the assistant can perform a range of tasks, such as sending emails, booking trips, negotiating lower bills, filling out forms, and creating plans. It can also convert food recipes into shopping lists, send event invitations, and make purchases on behalf of users.
The service is powered by Meta’s “Muse Spark” AI model, with users able to selectively choose which apps and services to connect to the assistant, thereby granting them greater control over the data and services “Muse” can access.
If direct integration with a particular service is unavailable, “Muse” can utilize the service’s API or access it via a web browser when no suitable API exists, according to the company.
The service is initially available through Meta’s website and mobile apps for iOS and Android, as well as via WhatsApp conversations, with plans to extend support to Meta’s smart glasses in the future.
Meta noted that “Muse” can continue executing certain tasks even after the user has exited the app. It can also leverage past conversations to better understand user preferences and offer more tailored suggestions over time.
The launch of “Muse” aligns with a broader industry trend in the technology sector toward developing AI agents that can directly carry out actions on behalf of users, marking a transition from merely providing answers and guidance to actually completing tasks.
