Ministry of Education Sets Working Hours for Schools Across Kuwait - Sarmad

The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Khaled Al-Rashid, issued a decision today, Wednesday, regarding the working hours for kindergarten schools, general education schools, the credit-based system schools (“Tracks”), gifted schools, special education schools, religious education schools, and private education institutions, in accordance with operational necessities.

In a statement, the Ministry of Education said the decision stipulates that school hours for the aforementioned institutions will follow the schedule attached to each educational stage, effective from the start of the 2026/2027 academic year. Specifically, kindergarten hours will run from 7:15 a.m. to 12:05 p.m., while primary school hours will be from 7:15 a.m. to 1:25 p.m.

The ministry added that middle school hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 1:40 p.m., and high school hours will be from 7:45 a.m. to 1:55 p.m. The credit-based system high schools (“Tracks”) will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., and gifted schools will have hours from 7:45 a.m. to 1:55 p.m.

The ministry clarified that the administration of special education schools is responsible for preparing the specific schedules for each school in accordance with its plan, provided that the start time does not exceed the approved start time for general education schools across their various stages.

It noted that the decision comes within the framework of the Ministry of Education’s commitment to standardizing and organizing school working hours to suit the nature of different educational stages, and to enhance operational efficiency and academic regularity with the launch of the new academic year.
