Axios: Trump did not oppose British sanctions on Israeli settlements - Sarmad

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump did not oppose the British-led initiative to impose new sanctions on entities and individuals linked to the construction of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, a sign of growing White House displeasure with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policy in the West Bank, according to Axios, citing U.S. officials and Western diplomats.
Britain announced on Tuesday the imposition of sanctions on individuals and entities involved in settlement construction, alongside a ban on importing goods produced in Israeli settlements.
The move came in response to the Netanyahu government’s decision to proceed with a settlement project in the sensitive “E1” area, which London and Western countries say would split the West Bank and hinder the geographic contiguity of any future Palestinian state.
