China: Arms are not the solution to the Middle East crisis - Sarmad

China has warned of the repercussions of escalating tensions in the Gulf region on the security of Middle Eastern countries, the stability of energy markets, maritime navigation, and supply chains, emphasizing that the solution lies not in the use of military force but in dialogue and negotiation.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during his meeting with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Beijing on Tuesday, stated that the rising tensions in the Gulf region “severely undermine” the security of countries in the area, and “continue to affect the stability of energy markets, maritime navigation, and supply chains,” according to an official briefing from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs as reported by Reuters.

Wang stressed that “exercising pressure through weapons and cannons is not the way out; rather, dialogue and negotiation are the correct path,” reflecting Beijing’s stance against resorting to military escalation to address regional crises.

At the same time, the Chinese minister praised Qatar’s mediation efforts on Middle Eastern issues, considering Doha to play an important role in promoting de-escalation and enhancing prospects for peace. Wang reaffirmed his country’s readiness to continue communication and coordination with Qatar on international and regional issues, reflecting Beijing’s desire to strengthen coordination with Doha amid the rapid developments unfolding in the region.

The Chinese Foreign Minister’s remarks come as regional tensions cast a shadow over maritime security and energy supplies, amid growing international calls to avoid escalation and return to the diplomatic track.
